Bessie’s father left in 1995, and her mother died in an auto accident in 2004. She went to live with her grandparents, but they were in ill health and had very little income. Bessie arrived at our home with determination to become a good student. She did well in all subjects, and continues to do well in public school. Bessie is well-liked and is a peacemaker. She is interested in art, and is in charge of the class bulletin board. She has earned many medals and certificates for her artwork.
