Laurie’s parents were divorced before she was born. She went to live with her aunt and her husband, who were ill, and were caring for her aunt’s mother, as well as their two children. Laurie arrived at our home in February 2005. She was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect in June 2006 and had surgery to repair it. Laurie was very courageous about the surgery. She is diligent in her studies and loving and helpful to people around her.
