After Patsy’s father died in a coalmine collapse, she lived with her older uncle who was not able to provide for her. Patsy had a very difficult time catching up with her peers Academically, and was even kept back a grade. With a great deal of help from her teachers and the headmaster, Patsy climbed from one of the lowest ranking students to first in her class in English and a math score of 94. Also, the bad behaviors that Patsy had learned have been overcome with education and discipline.
