David's father committed suicide shortly after his divorce in 1997. David's mother left to remarry. That same year, David's grandfather died. When the local government took away the small plot David and his grandmother used for farming, David had to find work to support them. His grades at school suffered. Then his younger uncle was sent to prison for stealing. David arrived at our orphanage in 2004. Although his previous circumstances will prevent David from attending a prestigious university, he is thankful for the opportunity to live here, and hopes to master a skill to become a professional.
